Blues Music Award Winner and blues Hall of Fame inductee, the Chicago blues titan John Primer is one of the last living legends of the Chicago blues world. He learnt his mighty craft over seven year playing seven nights a week in the legendary Theresa's Lounge the famed blues club in Chicago, performing behind such blues gods a sJames Cotton and Junior Wells. After a stint in Willie Dixon's band he became the last lead guitar player with Muddy Waters.
He went on to be bandleader in Magic Slim and The Teardrops and then forged an acclaimed international career under his own name. Nominated for three Grammys, a winner of Multiple Blues music awards and a more powerful artist than ever - John Primer is the best real deal traditional Chicago blues artist still performing the pure Chicago blues. He has a strong connection with Jersey too. In 2025 he and the Jersey’s own Giles Robson won a prestigious USA Blues Blast Music Award for their album Ten Chicago Blues Classics, recorded right here in the Pomme d’Or Hotel’s Golden Apple Suite.
