Royal Square is one of St Helier’s most historic and atmospheric public spaces, located right in the heart of Jersey’s capital. Surrounded by cafés, pubs, restaurants, and historic buildings, it’s a natural meeting point and a popular location for live music and festival events.

With its open, pedestrian-friendly layout and lively yet intimate feel, Royal Square provides the perfect setting to enjoy blues performances while soaking up the character of St Helier. During the festival week, the square becomes a hub of music, energy, and community spirit — a place where locals and visitors come together.

Make the most of your trip to Jersey and enjoy the festival with these handy, festival-focused tips:

STAY CENTRAL IF YOU CAN

Many blues festival venues and events are based in St Helier or within easy reach.

  • Staying centrally means less travel between gigs
  • You’ll be close to restaurants, bars, and late-night transport
  • Great atmosphere during festival week

USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Jersey’s bus network is reliable and festival-friendly.

  • Most routes run through St Helier
  • Day and multi-day passes are great value
  • No need to worry about parking during busy event days

Taxis are widely available but can be busy after headline shows — allow extra time.

ARRIVE EARLY FOR POPULAR GIGS

Even though many events are free, the most popular acts can draw large crowds.

  • Arrive early to get a good spot
  • Enjoy the atmosphere, food, and drinks before the music starts

DRESS FOR ISLAND WEATHER

Outdoor blues + island weather = layers!

  • Light waterproof jacket
  • Comfortable shoes for standing and walking
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen for daytime sets

CHECK THE TIDES...YES REALLY!

Jersey has one of Europe’s biggest tidal ranges.

  • Low tide = huge beaches and coastal walks before gigs
  • High tide = perfect for a swim or seaside drink

It’s a great way to plan daytime exploring around evening music.

BOOK FOOD AHEAD

  • Book restaurants in advance where possible

  • Street food and bars will be available at the festival

  • Many pubs serve excellent food if you want something relaxed

MAKE A MINI HOLIDAY OF IT

Between gigs, take time to explore:

  • Beaches and cliff paths
  • Local cafés and pubs
  • Sunset views on the west coast (a festival favourite)

Jersey is compact — you can experience a lot without rushing.
